Animas River

Located in Southwestern Colorado, the Animas river winds its way through the beautiful and dramatic San Juan Mountains. Surrounded by 14,000 ft peeks, the Animas provides breathtaking scenery with a wilderness backdrop, and fantastic whitewater. There are two commercially rafted sections that both depart from the charming mountain town called Durango. The Animas daily run is a great family day trip complete with great San Juan beauty and playful class III rapids. The second option is a two day wilderness extreme adventure on the Upper Animas. The “Upper A” is a class V section of whitewater that is not for the faint of heart of heart or the the inexperienced. Whatever your whitewater desire may be, the Animas is sure to satisfy.
